YOU ARE NEEDED

THIS WEEKEND!

THIS Saturday

we’ll be in the scene and costume shops going through all our sets, props, costuming and whatever else we can get to so that  Seussical will be the success we all know it will be,

But it starts with YOU

and it can’t happen without YOU!

Volunteer Hours Commitment

A minimum of 20 hours before the production is required from each family. There are a variety of committees and projects that you can volunteer for including costumes, props, concessions, hair & makeup, sets, lights, sound, fundraising, etc. Committees will be reviewed at parent meetings. We also require each family work at least 2 tech week rehearsals and 4 shows. Our productions rely solely on volunteers and everyone needs to help, weather you are selling a cookie, pulling the main curtain or running a spotlight…

Buena Park Youth Theatre has been operating since 1980, and offers youth ages 5 through 8,  & 9 through 18 the opportunity to realize their dreams of being on stage. If selected, the actors participate in rehearsing, performing on stage, and other production activities. Each, year, the theatre group performs two full-length Broadway musicals at Buena Park High School. Two full casts perform in each production to ensure that as many youth as possible shine in the spotlight. So far, more than 3,000 young people have participated in full-length shows such as Annie, Lés Miserables, Peter Pan, All Shook Up!,  Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, and many many more!

A 501-3C Non-Profit Organization in Support of Buena Park Youth Theatre

We perform two full scale Broadway productions a year that includes

professional sound, lighting and costuming.

BPYT is one of the oldest youth theatres in California and is the standard of what

all youth theatre programs aspire to be nationwide!

BPYT was formed some 37 years ago in response to a public school systems in turmoil cutting back funding on performing arts and other programs.

By recycling old voter booths, donated and volunteered sewn costumes, paper maché / cardboard sets,

BPYT was born!

This city program began so simply and expanded rapidly by giving the children of Orange and surrounding counties a safe place to not only learn about performing on stage and building self-confidence, but to also learning theatre from a technical standpoint as well.

The City of Buena Park does help by providing funds, rehearsal space, storage space for props, sets and costumes, but by no means does it cover the amount of funds needed to provide the quality of show that BPYT has become known for.

A full scale production cost anywhere from $20,000 to $30,000 and sometimes even more

depending upon rights and availability.

We do this twice a year.

If you have any other questions or concerns about this outstanding city program,

please feel free to contact us at any time.
